The amount of food my work throws away in a day makes me sick to my stomach. I'll be honest, in the span of a month we could feed tens of thousands of families. It hurts so bad, every time i have to throw something into those big gray tubs. The other day i walked around a corner and sitting there was a shopping cart containing five 2Ls and five 1Ls of milk. I touched them and of course they were warm. We are required to dump out any liquids before putting them in the bins and dumping out 15Ls of milk drained me emotionally, so much effort put into making all that, so many people that would be overjoyed to have it and there i was, dumping it. This is such a reoccurring feeling i have. I wish people understand that when you leave something that you grabbed from a freezer on a random shelf, we're not likely to find it until its too late. Another thing i find is that people just leave their carts, after shopping the entire store. I realize some people have emergencies and dont have time to put perishable things back in the coolers/freezers but the courtesy desk is RIGHT beside the door, we will not be mad if you just leave it there, at least it will be dealt with before it has to be claimed. We are so lucky to have everything we have, please dont take advantage of it and throw it around because people are dying to have it elsewhere.
